# Curator Payouts: How and When You Get Paid

> Understand how Ddriftt curator payouts work — from the check-in trigger and payment methods to tax responsibilities and what happens on cancellation.

Ddriftt pays you automatically — there's no invoicing to send, no hotels to chase, and no manual requests to file. Once a guest from your audience checks in to a property you recommended, your payout is set in motion. Everything runs in the background so you can stay focused on creating.

## When payouts are triggered

Your commission payout is triggered **within 48 hours of a guest's check-in**. This means:

* The guest must complete their booking through your staylist link.
* The booking must reach check-in (cancelled bookings do not generate a commission — see below).
* Ddriftt initiates the payout to your connected account within 48 hours of that check-in date.

The 48-hour window ensures Ddriftt can confirm the stay has commenced before releasing funds.

## How payouts are processed

Ddriftt processes curator payouts through two payment platforms:

* **Stripe** — available in most supported countries; funds are deposited directly to your connected bank account.
* **Wise** — an alternative for curators in regions where Stripe is unavailable or where international transfers are preferred.

<Note>
  Once Ddriftt triggers your payout, processing time depends on your payment provider. Stripe transfers typically take several business days to appear in your bank account. Wise transfer times vary by destination currency and country. Factor this in when planning around expected earnings.
</Note>

You can view the status of each payout in your curator dashboard under **Earnings**.

## Setting up your payout account

Before you can receive your first commission, you need to connect a payout account. Here's how:

  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect your account">
    Follow the on-screen prompts to link your Stripe or Wise account. You'll be redirected to the payment provider to complete verification.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm and save">
    Once connected, your payout method will be saved. All future commissions will be sent to this account automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you need to update your payout details at any time, return to the **Payouts** tab in Settings. Changes take effect on your next payout cycle.

## Taxes

<Warning>
  You are solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes applicable to your curator earnings. Ddriftt does not withhold taxes on your behalf, does not issue tax forms, and does not provide tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional in your country or jurisdiction to understand your obligations before your first payout.
</Warning>

Curator commissions are income. Depending on where you live, you may be required to report this income for local, national, or self-employment tax purposes. Since Ddriftt operates globally, tax requirements vary significantly by location — what applies to a curator in the US differs from what applies to a curator in France or Australia.

Keep records of your earnings through your curator dashboard, which shows a full history of bookings and commissions received.

## What happens on cancellation

If a guest cancels their booking **before check-in**, no commission is triggered and no payout is issued for that stay. The commission cycle only begins once a guest actually arrives at the property.

If a cancellation occurs **after check-in** has already triggered a payout, contact [curators@ddriftt.com](mailto:curators@ddriftt.com) — the team will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
